One of the most popular activities during the warm weather season is the Crayfish and Critter Hunt. What better way to get a look at the aquatic ecosystem than to get right in it!
Staff will guide visitors in the Konkapot Creek with nets and buckets to scoop for crayfish, minnows, frogs and much more. Nets and buckets will be provided for use. A touch tank will be set up on the shore to explore the catches of the day.
Registration is not required. Stop by anytime between 12:00 and 2:00 PM. Anyone interested in participating should come prepared to walk in the water. Water shoes are great for walking in the creek. If you don’t have any, old tennis, rain boots or waders will do just fine. No flip flops. A spare change of clothes, a towel and plastic bag (for wet clothes) is recommended. Even if you don’t plan on getting wet!
Not able to go in the water? Be sure to stop by the touch tank set-up behind the football bleachers. Staff and volunteers will help you “catch” critters while you stay dry.
