When staff arrived to open the Environmental Center building yesterday, we discovered a cardboard box by the front door that contained an injured mourning dove. It turns out, this bird was dropped off around 7 PM the night before and sat outside all night. We don’t fault anyone for trying to find help for wildlife in whatever way they can, but we thought we would take this as a teaching opportunity to help spread information on how individuals can best help wildlife in need. You can also find more information on our here.
We would like to thank Wildlife Of Wisconsin (W.O.W.) for meeting us to hand off the bird. Although we don’t know its prognosis, we are certain they will do whatever they can for it. We are grateful for our hard working wildlife rehabilitators in the area!
